The draft title for The Child was FTNT, which stood for Fuck The Next Trump. I thought/think that criticism of Donald Trump is too sophisticated and nuanced. I’d be embarrassed if any of my moral heros (Cool Hand Luke being one) showed up and saw that I had not curbstomped Donald Trump personally. Fuck him because that’s the devil.
lyrics
I don’t want to satire Trump. Just want to see him satire.
I don’t want to satire Trump. Just want to satire his friends.
I wish that Cool Hand Luke would descend from the clouds
In a cast iron time machine.
He’d light an unfiltered cigarette, look me in the eye,
And scream, “are you not seeing what I’m seeing?
I hope my kid’s first word is Fuck Donald Trump.
I hope my kid’s second word is Fuck Donald Trump.
Their eyes roll back in the back of their heads.
They’ll never finish the fiftieth egg.
I don’t want to satire Trump, just want to satire his friends.
I don’t want to satire Trump, just want to see him satire.
Another of our fave hymns that we like to sing at our gatherings.Mr Taylor never fails to deliver, Jesus shot me in the Head indeed.Walk into the light. drbaz
The latest from Jim Lauderdale is exclusive to Bandcamp, its songs drawing on bluegrass, country, and classic American music. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 28, 2020
This is a very strong sophomore record - No sophomore slump here. This shows Gudasz' growth as a songwriter. She's branching out in different directions musically with some very cool production work. Some of the songs are even better than those from Oleander, her debut LP. While some of those sounds/textures are still present here, this record has some more challenging (and rewarding) results. For fans of Leonard Cohen, Sharon Van Etten, Aimee Mann and Joni Mitchell. travm0
